Joe Aribo provides the Super Eagles of Nigeria and coach Augustine Eguavoen hope, according to former Nigerian international Daniel Amokachi.
Amokachi made the remarks while praising Aribo’s performance in Nigeria’s 2022 FIFA World Cup first-leg playoff match against Ghana’s Black Stars, which took place on Friday at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
WITHIN NIGERIA reports that Aribo probably had the best chance to score for the Super Eagles five minutes to the end of the half when he made a terrific run into the box but his effort, with his weaker right foot, went over the bar.
“It was a beautiful through ball by Aina to Aribo and then he shielded his body very, very well and he got to that position,” Amokachi said on SuperSport.
“If you are a left-footer in that position, it is always difficult but the most important thing is creating those chances.
“You have a midfield player [Aribo] running into the box and he gives hope for the team and for the manager.”
Nigeria will host Ghana in the second leg on Tuesday in Abuja.
