Police gun down four bandits in Benue, recover weapons

The Benue State Police Command said it has gunned down four bandits in Ukum Local Government Area of the state on Saturday.

Those killed include: Solo Orafaga, John Tyoakoso, Jude aka Headboy and an unidentified bandit who have been terrorising Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State

Weapons recovered include one Ak47 rifle, G3 rifle, a locally made pistol and assorted ammunitions as well as charms.

Briefing newsmen at the Police headquarters in Makurdi, the Benue State Commissioner of Police, Wale Abass, said with the effort of Governor Samuel Ortom, the command will make every where safe.

CP Abbass disclosed that the bandits were ambushed and killed while on their way to attack a village called Gbagire in Ukum Local Government Area by his men during an operation.

He said the operation was successful because all the bandits’ calls were tracked by the intelligent unit, allowing them to carefully monitor them as they planned their attack on the village.

He said the bandits numbered over 20 and that many others ran into the nearby bushes with gun wounds.

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom commended the Nigeria Police and especially the CP, Benue State command, Wale Abbas and his men, with a vow that his administration will do everything possible support them and reduce crime to its barest minimum in the state.

The corpses of the four bandits were displayed at the police headquarters in Makurdi, along with their charms and assorted weapons recovered from them.
