Operatives of the Ekiti State Police Command have arrested three suspects, including a soldier, for allegedly abducting a student of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti.
The three suspects were arrested in their hotel room in Ado-Ekiti while the the victim was rescued unhurt.
The suspects are Ojo Babajide and Olajide Nathaniel, who said they were from Ondo State and Adeniyi Adetayo, who claimed to be a soldier serving in Yobe State.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Sunday Abutu, who confirmed the development said they received a distress call that a student of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, was abducted from Oye-Ekiti to an unknown destination.
Abutu pointed out that the command’s Rapid Response Squad tracked the suspects to a hotel located along Ado-Ikere road and rescued the victim unhurt.
He said: “The suspects during interrogation confessed to the crime, saying they just want to make money.”
Abutu said the command is on the trail of the other suspects who took to their heels and escaped arrest on sighting the police.
