Ghana national team coach, Otto Addo, has revealed the reason why his team defeated the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the 2022 FIFA World Cup double-leg playoff fixture.
Addo said that his team defeated the Super Eagles due to luck and because they adapted very well in the second half.
The Black Stars qualified for the World Cup by away goal after playing a 1-1 draw against Nigeria at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja, on Tuesday.
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that Arsenal midfielder, Thomas Partey saw his long range effort squirm under Francis Uzoho to give Ghana the lead while Nigeria drew level through a well conducted penalty by William Troost-Ekong after Ademola Lookman was fouled in the 18-yard box.
The Black Stars had drawn 0-0 against the Super Eagles in Kumasi last Friday.
Speaking after the game, Addo told Joy Sports Ghana: “I am really delighted, exulted that it was a tough match, we found our way through we had big problems, especially in the first half.
“And we made some changes, the players adapted very well. They [Nigeria] had some good chances. Our goalkeeper was there when we needed him. The defensive line was outstanding. We had a little bit of luck also.”
