Tragedy was averted on Monday as a driver and his conductor escaped death after their truck went up in flames at Awawa village on the Abuja-Lokoja road.
According to Daily Trust, a witness said the incident happened around 9am when the DAF truck without registration number fully loaded with electronic gadgets belonging to Jumia caught fire.
He said the driver, who was conveying the electronics from Abuja to Lagos noticed a thick smoke billowing under the truck and applied brakes and stopped.
He further said before men of the fire service could arrive the scene from Abaji, fire had consumed the truck.
Some villagers and scavengers were said to have been busy retrieving the burnt electronics.
The Abaji unit commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, ACC Abubakar Shehu Dogondaji, confirmed the incident.
