50 rustled cows retrieved as police dislodge bandit in Katsina

The Katsina Command of the Nigeria Police says it’s recovered 50 rustled cows belonging to one Alhaji Ibrahim Maikudi of Gago village, Dutsinma LGA after overpowering some hoodlums.

The police public relations officer in the state, SP Gambo Isah, made this known on Friday while addressing newsmen at the command’s headquarters.

He disclosed that the incident happened at about 1am when a distress call was received that terrorists numbering about 40 attacked the village and rustled cows.

He said the Area Commander in charge of Dutsinma led a team of policemen to the area, engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel and successfully repelled the terrorists neutralising one of them.

He said the operational strategy and gallantry displayed by the team made the terrorists to abandon “their heinous mission and fled the scene,” adding that in the course of scanning the scene, one AK47 rifle with five rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and all the fifty (50) rustled cows were recovered.

He added that many terrorists escaped the scene with gun shots wounds, saying search parties were still combing the area with a view to arresting the fleeing terrorists.
