Bandits working in cahoots with traditional rulers, Emir alleges

Muhammadu Iliyasu-Bashar, Emir of Gwandu in Kebbi has revealed that activities of bandits have largely been successful in the state because they have collaborators among leaders and title holders.

Iliyasu-Bashar, Chairman Kebbi State Council of Emirs, made the revelation at a weekly prayer session held at Abdullahi Fodio Palace, Birnin Kebbi.

The emirate organised the prayer sessions to seek divine intervention in all matters concerning peace, unity, well-being, growth and development of Nigeria

The emir says it is a thing of shock that the traditional title holders are involved in banditry, adding that the scourge needs to be tackled head-on.

He beseeched Islamic leaders and Muslim faithfuls to intensify prayers for lasting peace and unity in the country, especially during the Ramadan period
