2023: Knocks, praises trail Osinbajo’s declaration to vie for presidency

Reactions have begun to trail the declaration of vice president Yemi Osinbajo to join the 2023 presidential race.

WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported that Osinbajo declared his intention to run for the presidency on Monday morning.

Osinbajo’s declaration came hours after meeting with some northern governors and other notable characters from the region.

In a viral video online, the vice president reeled out his achievement and stated why he’s the right person to succeed president Muhammadu Buhari.

He said God has given him the needed experience to manage the affairs of the country and solve the myriad of challenges confronting it.

However mixed reactions have greeted the vice president’s official declaration to become the number citizen of Nigeria.

Other the one hand, some opine that the vice president doesn’t have the moral justification to aspire for the presidency because he is part and parcel of president Muhammadu Buhari administration, who many believe has not only performed woefully in management of the country’s affairs and resources, but has also reversed the gains of previous administrations.

On the other hand, we have the supporters of the vice president and those sympathetic to his aspiration. This group of people believes Osinbajo is the right man for the job. They averred that he has the required experience, knowledge and intellect to steer the wobbling ship that’s Nigeria in the right direction. They say their hope of better, reliable, productive, altruistic and compassionate presidency under Osinbajo hinged on his performance as acting president in 2018 when Buhari was in London for one of his lengthy medical treatments.
