During the state’s Easter celebrations, the Delta State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has deployed 2,418 personnel to safeguard lives and man important government infrastructures.
The deployment was approved by the NSCDC’s State Commandant, Akinsanya I A.
He stated that Delta State’s stability should not be taken for granted, adding that the Command’s personnel will be assisting other security agencies in ensuring watertight security coverage before, during, and after the celebration.
This was said in a statement signed by DSC Emeka Peters, NSCDC Public Relations Officer.
According to the NSCDC image maker, the deployment is “in line with the NSCDC’s core mandate in the protection of lives and properties.”
He stressed the readiness of the Commandant led administration in maintaining peace and order in the State.
The NSCDC boss maintained that the personnel were drafted from the Tactical Squad, the Anti-Vandal Unit, the Agro-Rangers, Counter Terrorism Unit CTU, the Rapid Respond Unit, Operations Dept, the Snipper Combatant (Female Squad) and the Department of Intelligence and Investigation (DII).
He directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, Component Commanders and Squadron Leaders to supervise and monitor the deployed officers and ensure they operate within the extant laws and discharge their duty with professionalism in line with international best practices.
The NSCDC Commandant used the opportunity of the Easter celebration to admonish all Christians to love one another just as Christ loved the Church in order to engender a godly society.
