Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has expressed his intention to fight for re-election in 2023.
Fintiri, who was elected governor of Adamawa State under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019, said on Monday that he will run for the party’s ticket again in the upcoming general elections.
He made the announcement in Ribadu Square in Yola, the state capital, after swearing in 21 local government chairmen, all of whom were elected in council elections earlier that day.
Fintiri said his decision to seek a second term as governor arose from the support and urging he had been getting from the people, some of who even mobilised and bought the necessary nomination and expression of interest forms for him.
He said he had worked hard in the last three years as governor to recreate a more functional Adamawa State and would be needing a second term to consolidate on governance.
Addressing the newly inaugurated chairmen of the 21 LGAs of the state, Fintiri urged them to be accessible to their people.
“You are to be always there for the people whenever they need you,” Fintiri told them.
