Rampaging gunmen has reportedly killed a policeman in Isuofia Community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra state.

Isuofia is the community of Governor Charles Soludo.

A resident of the community disclosed that the gunmen stormed the junction where security operatives were stationed and opened fire.

The source said it was possible that the gunmen were incensed by the idea of stationing a security post in the area.

“The hoodlums stormed the area, shooting non-stop, while residents scampered for safety. One policeman was killed in the process,” Daily Trust quoted the source as saying.

Confirming the onslaught, the spokesman of the Anambra State Police command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, said no policeman was killed.

The police spokesman also said the incident did not happen in the community but along the highway.

He, however, said three police were wounded in the process and the operation was still ongoing.

He also said a vehicle was recovered with bloodstained showing that the hoodlum suffered casualty.

But the community sources insisted that the attack happened at Isuofia and a policeman was killed.
