The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has disclosed that its system came under attack from hackers leading to loss of confidential information.
The federation in a statement on Thursday said data belonging to president Luis Rubiales was lost in the cyber attack.
The RFEF said General secretary Andreu Camps was also a victim of the attack as he had text and audio data stolen.
RFEF said the loss had been reported to the police.
“It is likely that this personal data, illegally obtained with clear criminal intent, has been offered to various media,” the RFEF said
It noted that it had it on record that hackers had, in a phone call, reached out to a journalist, to offer him the stolen data.
It disclosed that the materials will be published shortly.
The federation warned this would be an illegal publication of trade secrets and violate the rights of the people involved.
