The Governor made the remarks while speaking to reporters following a closed-door meeting with several PDP presidential candidates.
This was stated in a press statement published on Saturday by Onyebuchi Ememanka, the Chief Press Secretary to Abia State Governor Ikpeazu.
They were in Abia on the mission of the possibility of a consensus presidential candidate for the main opposition party in Nigeria.
Among the PDP presidential hopefuls were the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, Senator Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, ex-Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki and Dr Mohammed Hayatudeen.
Ikpeazu described the move for a consensus option adopted by the presidential aspirants as altruistic and one hinged on a desire to forge an alliance that can rescue the nation beyond selfish Interests.
He admonished them irrespective of their region to forge an alliance for the common interest of the Nigerian people while expressing total pleasure on the special visit.
According to the Abia Chief Executive, “I must say this visit has rekindled my hope for the emergence of a new Nigeria under the Peoples Democratic Party”.
