Following heavy firepower from Nigerian forces during an operation in the Lake Chad region, ISWAP units alleged to be in control of the area recently abandoned their canoes carrying supplies for their foot soldiers while escaping military operations.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by Colonel Muhammad Dolé, Chief of Military Public Information, FMM HQ, N’Djamena, Chad, the Sector 1 Amphibious Task Force (Cameroon) increased river patrols and attacks on TBHs in the general vicinity of Tchol and Chaka.
“During these operations, upon seeing the advancing patrol teams, some suspected terrorist logisticians fled and abandoned canoes loaded with sacks of food (cereals) and other materials intended for the criminals,” the statement said.
According to the statement, all items were confiscated and destroyed as troops continued to patrol the waterways to block possible escape and supply routes used by the terrorists.
