The Minister of Justice and Attorney -General of the Federation (AGF) Abubakar Malami (SAN) has joined the 2023 Kebbi Governorship race.
He said he accepted calls from the Kebbi people to join the race on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Minister made the acceptance in Birnin Kebbi at a gathering session with all APC stakeholders in the State.
He said: “People from the State have been pressurising him to contest for the governorship position come 2023.
“Since you want me to contest governorship position of the state, I hereby accept your request.”
The Minister also explained going by his proper upbringing as son of an Islamic teacher.
He said: “I will not show interest to contest for any position or judge myself to qualify for any position except the people of the state want me.
“I have contributed a lot to the country and also to the State in areas of employment generation, poverty reduction, agricultural revolution and women empowerment,.
“We pray for Allah’s guidance and assistance and may the answer to your demands be the continuous development of the State.”
Speaking at the occasion Governor Atiku Bagudu urged party leaders not to relent in bringing aggrieved members back into the APC fold.
Bagudu called on the youths to emulate the humility of Malami as a son of Islamic teacher.
“May Allah bless Abubakar Malami and we thank him for his contributions to the people of the State as an upright person. We will continue support and pray for your success,” he said.
