Taxi drivers docked for robbing, sexually assaulting Lagos passenger

Two taxi drivers have been arrested and arraigned before a Yaba Chief Magistrate’s Court, Lagos State.

The duo Sunday Gabriel, 29, Agbehi Kenneth, 24,  were arraigned for allegedly abducting a woman, Ifeoma, and stealing her of N2.4m.

They were arraigned by the police on Friday with five counts charges bordering on kidnapping, armed robbery, unlawful possession of firearms and sexual assault preferred against them.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Modupe Olaluwoye, told the court that the defendants and one other at large committed the offences on February 17, 2022, at 8pm on Adeola Odeku Street, Victoria Island.

The charges read in part, “That you, Sunday Gabriel, Agbehi Kenneth, and others still at large on February 17, 2022, around 8pm, on Adeola Odeku Street, Victoria Island, in the Lagos State Magisterial District, did arm yourself with a gun and a small sharp knife, while disguised as cab drivers, to kidnap one Miss Ifeoma.

“That you did arm yourself with a gun and a small sharp knife, while forcefully and sexually using your fingers to penetrate the private parts of one Miss Ifeoma.”

According to Olaluwoye, the offences contravene sections 299, 297(1)(2)(a)(b), (271)(1), 26(1)and 51 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. L.Y. Balogun, did not take their pleas.

The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendants pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public prosecutions.

Balogun acceded to the request and adjourned the case till June Cab drivers arraigned for robbing, sexually assaulting Lagos passenger15, 2022.
