Salihu Tanko-Yakasai, a former media aide of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, has joined the governorship race of Kano state.
He announced his intention to vie for the governorship seat on Tuesday on his verified Twitter handle.
Tanko-Yakasai said his official declaration will take place on Friday, adding that he will run on the platform of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP).
“In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah; there is no might & no power but in Allah. My dear family, friends & well-wishers, this is to announce to you my intention to contest for Governor, Kano State, under our great party PRP. My official declaration will take place this Friday,” he tweeted.
This comes weeks after he resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In February 2021, Tanko-Yakasai was sacked by Ganduje for making “continued unguarded comments” and criticising President Muhammadu Buhari.
Tanko-Yakasai, while leaving the APC in March, had said the party had failed to fulfil its campaign promises to Nigerians.
