The United Nations (UN) Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, is presently in the Presidential Villa Abuja, where he is meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari behind closed doors.
At 3 p.m., the UN secretary arrived.
Guterres recently visited Borno State, where he spoke with several repentant terrorists and pushed for their reintegration into society, particularly those who freely surrendered to military authorities.
Sources within the presidency said the meeting between both leaders will centre around security challenges bedevilling Nigeria and solutions open to the country.
Meanwhile, Guterres has said journalists and media workers are facing increasing “politicisation” of their work and threats to their freedom for simply doing their jobs.
Guterres said this in his message to mark World Press Freedom Day on Tuesday.
The World Press Freedom Day is annually observed on May 3, to inform the international community that freedom of the press and freedom of expression are fundamental human rights.
