President of the African Development Bank, AfDB, Akinwumi Adesina, has joined the growing list of 2023 presidential aspirants in the All Progressives Congress, APC.
A coalition of 28 groups consisting of Youth Arise Movement, Nigerians in Diaspora, One Nigeria Group, Prudent Youth Association of Nigeria, women groups, farmers, people with disabilities and other civil society groups, raised the N100 million to purchase the presidential nomination and expression of interest forms for Adesina on Saturday in Abuja.
The Head, One Nigeria Group, Mohammed Saleh, led the coalition that purchased the form for the former Agriculture Minister.
There have been speculations that some APC chieftains were mounting pressure on Adesina to join the race with promise to secure presidential approval for his bid.
Adesina is now up against Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Governors Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), Mohammed Badaru (Jigawa), Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele and at least five ministers for the APC presidential ticket.
