Jigawa Assembly suspends council chairman over alleged disloyalty to APC chairman

Jigawa State House of Assembly has suspended the Council Chairman of Yankwashi Local Government Area for alleged disloyalty to the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, indefinitely.

Hon. Muhammad Na’im, the Chairman of the House Committee on Information and a member of the Kafin Hausa Constituency, revealed this to reporters.

He stated that the council chairman was suspended for suspected misbehavior and circulating false information against the APC’s State Chairman, Honourable Aminu Ahmed.

According to him “the House received a letter of complaint from the APC chairman accusing the Local Government Chairman of spreading false information that he (APC chairman) is extorting money to favour some aspirants.”

He did, however, add that the House had also received a number of complaints against eight other council chairmen for theft of public funds and abuse of power.

“The house had also set up a committee to investigate the eight more local government chairmen. They include Gwaram, Kafinhausa, Guri, Miga, Birninkudu, Birniwa and Babura,” he said.

However, one of the council chairmen, who preferred anonymity, described the accusations as false and unfounded.

He said the allegation was a mere political witch-hunt.
