Sen. Hope Uzodimma, governor of Imo State, has instructed political appointees seeking political office in 2023 to resign by May 16.
The instruction was issued by the Governor during the extended State Exco meeting on Wednesday.
He stated that appointees who choose to run for political office had until Monday, May 16 to leave.
Uzodimma also requested that such appointees submit their resignation letters on or before the specified deadline.
The Governor’s decree came only hours after President Muhammadu Buhari directed that all ministers pursuing elected positions quit on or before May 16, in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022.
