The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has denounced Deborah Samuel’s murder on the grounds of blasphemy.
Professor Ishaq Akintola, Director of MURIC, denounced the death as “outrageous, illegal, and unlawful” in a statement issued on Friday.
Those who were offended by the student’s message, he claimed, should have reported her to security services.
According to Akintola, mob murdering is antiquated, bohemian, and belongs in the Stone Age, and that no one has the authority to take the law into his own hands.
“The Glorious Qur’an compares the killing of a single person to the killing of the whole of humanity just as it compares the saving of a life to the rescue of all homo sapiens (Qur’an 5:32).
“In like manner, Prophet Muhammad (SAW) himself condemned all acts of violence and advocated peaceful conduct at all times,” he said.
MURIC, on the other hand, stated that the occurrence should not be criticized in isolation.
According to the organization, a current trend in which Nigerians openly spill their brothers’ blood should be opposed by all patriots.
“We frown at the recent burning last week of a truck fully loaded with cows in the South East as well as the killing of many Muslims of South East origin by their Igbo brothers in the same South East.”
MURIC requested the Sokoto State Police Command to do all possible to solve Deborah’s murder.
The group urges Nigerians to stop attacking, mocking, or denigrating prophets of other religions.
“Muslims should continue to respect Jesus (peace be upon him) whom the Christians hold very dear. Christians should avoid casting aspersion on the person of Prophet Muhammad (SAW)”, Akintola added.
