Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has instructed that the Office of the Chief of Staff to the Governor be overseen by the State’s Head of Civil Service, Usman Bala, with immediate effect.
Ali Bukar Makoda, the State Chief of Staff, resigned late Friday after defecting from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP.
However, Ganduje noted in a statement made by the Information Commissioner, Malam Muhammad Garba, that the oversight would be temporary awaiting the appointment of a permanent Chief of Staff.
According to the statement, the Governor hoped that the Head of Service, who had previously served in the position, would provide appropriate supervision and coordination.
Usman Bala was the State Cheif of Staff during the first tenure of Governor Ganduje, but was sacked and appointed a Permanent Secretary.
