The Rivers State Government has approved employment of academic and non-academic staff at Ignatius Ajuru University of Education.
The move is to enable the management fill up existing vacancies in the institution.
Governor Nyesom Wike, who was represented by his deputy, Ipalibo Banigo, at the 39th-40th Convocation Ceremony of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education on Saturday, said the approval is to ensure the provision of “quality teaching and research” in the institution.
The Governor said the approval and to strengthen the capacity of the University to “impart innovative knowledge and deliver quality education” to its students.
He noted that every state needs well-educated, trained, skilled and healthy citizens to grow its economy, create jobs and ensure that life becomes truly meaningful for everyone.
He added that the success of any state or country depends on how the youths are transformed through education, skills and values, to be active and productive citizens.
