The Chairman, Osun National Committee for State House of Assembly committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has disclosed that 87 persons bought forms to occupy the 26 seats in the state assembly in the coming general election.
The committee announced this on Tuesday, when it began evaluating candidates for the state assembly’s 26 seats.
The committee’s chairman, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, said that 81 of the aspirants purchased their forms in Osun State, while the remaining six acquired their forms in Abuja.
Ize-Iyamu, who talked with media before the screening procedure began, stated that the national leadership assigned the committee the task of vetting the party’s House of Assembly contenders.
He said the committee has a clear guideline, which according to him aspirants should be qualified to vote and to be voted for.
“There are constitutional requirements and party requirements. Basically, we want to be sure they are Nigerian citizens, local government certificates, age and educational qualifications.”
