Former President Goodluck Jonathan met with Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom behind closed doors at his Abuja’s residence with a view to “strengthening the family ties of the PDP”.
The duo were said to have discussed issues surrounding the fate of the Peoples Democratic Party and the 2023 general election.
Speaking with the press about the meeting, Chief Press Secretary to the Benue State Governor, Nathaniel Ikyur, said; “The duo met behind closed doors for more than 40 minutes and discussed frankly.
“They only came out, smilingly with the ex-president exchanging courtesies with everyone on the governor’s entourage.
“They obviously discussed the Peoples Democratic Party and the future of Nigeria.”
The meeting came after days of speculations that Jonathan will run for the 2023 presidential election under the All Progressives Party.
However, Jonathan’s aide has confirmed that the former president has not resigned his PDP membership.
