Budding Arsenal player Bukayo Saka is hesitant to sign a new contract with the club if it does not include a release clause, according to a report in the Mail.
The young player, who is only 20, has had a successful season, and the Gunners are eager to secure a new long-term contract with him as soon as possible.
Saka’s current contract has one more year left on it, and there is an option to extend it for an additional 12 months after that.
While the England international is content with his situation at the club, he is eager to compete in the Champions League and it is anticipated that formal discussions will take place with his representatives at the conclusion of the current campaign.
When Saka enters into negotiations over new terms, it is speculated that he will be “reluctant to commit himself without an exit strategy.” This is because of the uncertainty of the future.
Even though release clauses are extremely uncommon in English football, Arsenal could find themselves under pressure to include one and could be forced to make an exception on this particular occasion.
