A former acting Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Dr. Saleh Abubakar, has passed away.
His death was announced by member of his family, Alhaji Hassan Mijinyawa, who is also the Special Adviser to Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State on Press Affairs. Abubakar was 74.
According to Mijinyawa, Abubakar died at a Kaduna hospital after a protracted illness.
Abubakar hailed from Jalingo, the capital of Taraba, but was living in Kaduna.
The ex-Registrar, who was a 1973 graduate of history from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, was also a member of the Nigerian National Constitutional Conference under Major General Sani Abacha’s regime from 1994 to 1995.
As a Director of Admissions before joining JAMB in 1996, Abubakar was a lecturer at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, for 19 years and was also the Chief Executive Officer of the College of Preliminary Studies in Yola in the former Gongola State.
He equally headed the College of Education in Jalingo.
Abubakar’s remains had been buried in Kaduna according to Islamic Injunctions.
he was survived by one wife, 12 children and 11 grandchildren.
