The Nigeria Police have confirmed the arrest of Oriyomi Hamzat on Thursday.
The popular Ibadan-based broadcaster was arrested by Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) operatives.
A statement by Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi gave the update.
The spokesman noted that Hamzat was transported to custody for a cyber bullying case under investigation.
Adejobi said Oriyomi refused to honour invitation severally, which prompted the police to secure a warrant for his arrest.
“We are looking into the petition written against him on his violation of the Cyber Crime Act, 2015, and necessary action will be taken to do justice in the matter”, the statement reads.
There have been insinuations that Hamzat was arrested over his call for justice in the murder of Timothy Adegoke, a Postgraduate student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.
