Karim Benzema, a star player for Real Madrid, has stated that his friendship with Kylian Mbappe will not be affected by the latter’s decision to reject Spanish giants.
Benzema added that he ‘respects’ Mbappe’s decision to stay at PSG and play for the club.
This past season, Mbappe scored 28 goals to help PSG win the Ligue 1 title. Prior to a sudden change of heart a week ago, it was almost certain that the 23-year-old would be moving to Spain. However, Mbappe changed his mind.
Mbappe’s decision has caused an uproar at Real, and Benzema does not appear to be in the best of moods either.
Benzema has now commented on the situation involving Mbappe following Real Madrid’s 1-0 victory over Liverpool on Saturday, which sealed the club’s victory in the Champions League.
“I would have liked him to have been able to fulfil his dream of playing for Real Madrid, being together,’ Benzema told Telefoot.
“He chose PSG, we must respect him. It’s his choice, he has a lot of responsibilities.
“We will enjoy playing together in the national team. Everyone makes their own choices.
“Real Madrid are Real Madrid, I’m not disappointed. We are good friends, it won’t affect our relationship.”
