Senator Ifeanyi Ubah has won the Young Progressives Party ticket for the Anambra South Senatorial seat for the 2023 general elections.
Ubah was elected by delegates from the seven Local Government Areas that make up the district, including Aguata, Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Orumba North, Orumba South, Ihiala, and Ekwusigo, at primaries watched by officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The election was overseen by a committee from the YPP National Secretariat in Abuja, as well as INEC officials who served as observers. On Sunday, the primary was held in Nnewi.
Ubah, who is seeking reelection, stated in his acceptance speech that his victory would motivate him to provide more effective representation for the constituency.
The senator thanked all of the party delegates for their support and unity in helping him become the district’s senatorial candidate.
When he returns to the Senate, Ubah promised not to betray the trust placed in him and that he will continue to promote their interests.
He stated that he was still the people’s choice in the constituents in the seven LGAs of the Districts.
“I urge you all to join hands with me in the struggle to give our great party, YPP, the desired victory at the 2023 general elections,’’ he stressed.
Similarly, Dr. Chinedu Umeadi, also secured the YPP Senatorial ticket for Anambra Central Senatorial District, through delegate affirmation from the seven Local Government Areas that constitute the district; Anaocha, Awka North, Awka South, Dunukofia, Njikoka, Idemili North and Idemili South.
The primary election that took place at Finotel Awka, on Sunday, had YPP National Secretary, Hon. Vidiyeno H. Bamaiyi, and INEC officials led by Mr. Nwouga Anthony, Deputy Director, Anambra State Headquarters Awka, as witnesses.
Also, Mr. Ughamadu Kingsley, secured the party House of Representative ticket for Awka North/South Federal Constituency.
His emergence was also through a voice vote from the delegates.
The process was also supervised by Bamaiyi and INEC officials led by Mr. Nwouga Anthony, Deputy Director, Anambra State Headquarters Awka, at the same venue.
In their separate reactions, Umeadi and Kingsley commended the party leaders for the opportunity to fly the YPP flag in Anambra State. They also vowed to defeat all the opponents in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
He said, “The reason I joined the YPP is that it is a party without the issue of godfatherism, unlike the other parties, where the godfathers dictate to the members and at the end of the day, the people are left to suffer bad governance as a result.
“This is not going to be when I emerge the winner, I will ensure quality representation and legislation to impact on my people.”
