Position of Omoyele Sowore as the National Chairman of the African Action Congress has been upheld by Court of Appeal in Abuja.
In its ruling on Thursday, the appellate court set aside a high court judgment of 2019 for lack of jurisdiction to hear the matter as it was an internal affairs.
The 2019 judgment had removed Sowore as the party’s chairman.
Justice Iyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja had in 2019 averred that suspension of Sowore, who was the presidential flag-bearer of the AAC, by the National Executive Committee of the party was valid.
The court nullified the judgement, and affirmed Sowore as the national chairman as against one Leonard Nzenwa.
The court subsequently awarded a sum of N200,000 to the applicants.
