Argentinian goalkeeper Emi Martinez claims that when national team captain Lionel Messi speaks, Argentina’s President has to remain silent.
This was stated by Martinez while recounting Messi’s speech on the day of their Copa America victory.
Argentina won the trophy last summer, giving Messi his first senior international trophy for his country.
Martinez admitted that the rallying cry he led the team with that day gave everyone involved goosebumps.
“He made a speech saying this was going to be his last one and that he was going to give it his all,” Martinez told Prime Video.
“I was like, little shivers, to Messi talking.
“Everyone shuts up. They’re all like that, whoever it is: manager, President of Argentina, whoever is there. They just shut up.”
