Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State, has described the killing of worshippers at the St Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo state, as heinous and barbaric.

Gunmen last Sunday stormed the church and killed worshipers, while several others sustained gunshot injuries.

The governor issued the condemnation when he paid a condolence visit to his Ondo State counterpart, Rotimi Akeredolu, at government House in Akure.

Speaking during the visit, Oyetola said the governors have meet and are working towards giving Amotekun the support and resources needed to foil such attack in the future.

To curb the future incidence on any of the sates of the southwest, Oyetola noted that no effort would be spared to continue to strengthen the security architecture in the region.

In his words, “The incident has further shown that it is imperative to interrogate the security architecture of our zone in this regard. It is not a doubt that these people (bandits and terrorists) are with us and no effort must be spared to secure our people and our region.

“We will not relent. We will do everything to strengthen Amotekun, support the security architecture and ensure safety for all.

“Though we had a meeting on this, I felt it is also necessary for me to come here so as to identify with our people,” Oyetola said.
