Romelu Lukaku was moved to tears after Chelsea agreed a season-long loan deal with Inter Milan, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Inter will give the Blues a loan fee of £7 million plus add-ons.
By accepting a pay cut of 35% on his weekly salary of £325,000 at Stamford Bridge, Lukaku will make sacrifices on his own behalf.
Only one year after moving to Chelsea in a club-record £97.5 million deal, the 29-year-old is back at the San Siro.
He scored 15 goals in 44 games while he was there.
After that, Lukaku derailed the team’s campaign by criticizing manager Thomas Tuchel in a TV interview he gave in December.
It has since been made known that when Sebastien Ledure, Lukaku’s attorney, told him that a breakthrough had been made in talks between Chelsea and Inter on Tuesday, Lukaku became emotional.
It came after talks stalled on Monday when Inter president Steven Zhang attempted to restructure the deal.
