In preparation for the 2022 Army Day celebration, the Nigerian army warns that residents of Imo and Owerri in particular will notice an increase in the movement of troops and military hardware (NADCEL).
The Army advised residents not to panic, but rather to remain calm and carry on with their normal activities.
Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, made the announcement in a press release distributed to journalists in Owerri, Imo State.
According to Nwachukwu, the Nigerian Army Day Celebration is an annual event aimed at demonstrating the Nigerian Army’s commitment over the years as a professional responsive force.
He said the event for the year 2022 is scheduled to hold in Owerri, the Imo capital, from June 29 to July 6.
“The theme for this year’s NADCEL is: ‘Repositioning the Nigerian Army in the Joint Operations Environment: A Panacea for Success in Addressing Contemporary Security Challenges’.
“Activities lined up for the weeklong event include the Chief of Army Staff Press Briefing, Jumaat prayers, Inter-denominational church service, commissioning of Civil-Military Cooperations cum Quick Impact Projects, NADCEL Lecture, Chief of Army Staff Commendation Awards and parade among others “, he said.
