A 76-year-old kidnapper identified as Ibrahim Muhammadu was apprehended by the Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) after he had been on the run for more than nine months.
The Command also detained three railway vandals and 20 underage sex workers. 14 men were detained at Gida Lokachi, according to the Commandant, Waziri Goni, who paraded the suspects before reporters. They were allegedly helping the underage sex workers at an illegal hotel (house of entertainment.)
Goni bemoaned the wave of social decadence that had ripped deep into the fabric of the country but issued a warning that his men were ready and able to rein in the excesses of the state’s criminals.
He urged parents to devote more time to their children, regretting that: “this is heart rendering that here are teenagers are being used for sex relief.
“Seriously now, the nation is in trouble but I assure you that the Command is adequately prepared to tame the menace.”
Goni said the railway vandals would be charged to court, adding that the Command, six months ago arrested five of the six kidnappers that besieged one Alhaji Aminu’s house at Balaji village in Dukku Local Council
“We have been on the trail of Ibrahim Mohammed, the sixth gang member, he has even confessed to the crime, already his cohorts are at the court for trial,” he added.
MEANWHILE, the manager of the entertainment house, Alhaji Muhammed, denied running an illegal hotel, but merely said: “we are just helping the government to provide jobs for them (the teenagers).”
He, however, explained that pregnant women are never admitted into the house as those that sought admittance in the past were denied.
