Accord Party in Akwa Ibom says insinuations that it is being sponsored by the state government are untrue and malicious.
The party leadership in the state said it’s independent, adding that it has never received financial support from the government.
The denial followed claims that the state government was presenting the party for its own interest.
Speaking on Wednesday in Uyo, state chairman of the party, Martins Ansa, said the insinuations are aimed at destroying the core values of the party and personae of its governorship candidate before right-thinking members of society.
Ansa, who stated that the party can provide solutions to the challenges confronting the state, and is on a mission to produce the next governor of Akwa Ibom, mentioned Engr. Emem Coffie as its gubernatorial candidate.
“Accord in Akwa Ibom State is a product of self-sacrifice by committed members who have shown unflinching loyalty in their belief to produce the next governor of our dear state come 2023.”
