If Cristiano Ronaldo ever leaves Old Trafford, Manchester United has identified the best player they could sign to take his place.
Ronaldo might force Manchester United to enter the transfer market and try to sign either Neymar of Paris Saint-Germain or Robert Lewandowski of Barcelona, who is eager to leave Bayern Munich this summer.
Just five weeks remain until the 2022–2023 Premier League season kicks off, and Ronaldo has urged the Red Devils to consider any offers made to sign him.
However, according to ESPN, Manchester United may consider Neymar and Lewandowski, two well-known players who are currently competing for the job of replacing Ronaldo.
Additionally, Bayern and Napoli were listed in the newspaper as clubs that had a paper thin interest in signing the captain of Portugal.
Chelsea have also been in the conversation as Ronaldo’s next destination and their co-owner Todd Boehly also had a meeting with the player’s agent Jorge Mendes.
However, the Blues are yet to decide on whether to make a formal bid for Ronaldo, with Boehly set to discuss with Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel in the coming days regarding making a move for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner or not.
