Further penetration after any party withdraws consent during sex is rape, says Delta police PRO

The spokesperson of the Delta state police command, DSP Bright Edafe has stated that Nigerians having sexual intercourse with a person despite them withdrawing their consent even in the middle of the act can be termed rape and attracts a 14-year jail-term.

This was made known by the Delta state police spokesperson, Edafe via his official Twitter handle on Tuesday morning.

Edafe wrote:

”Do you know during sex, once any party withdraws consent, you have to stop. further penetration amounts to rape and the person can be sentenced to life imprisonment if found guilty…… ignorance of law is no excuse”
