Liverpool suffer injury blow ahead of Manchester United clash

Darwin Nunez

Darwin Nunez, a recent addition to Liverpool, may be injured before their preseason match against Manchester United on Tuesday.

Today’s preseason match between Jurgen Klopp’s team and Manchester United will take place at Thailand’s Rajamangala Stadium.

The Telegraph reports that during Monday’s practice, Nunez suffered a “minor foot issue,” according to the Manchester Evening News.

After making an impression with Benfica last season, the Uruguayan international signed with the Reds this summer for a club record fee of over £85 million.

Nunez played in 41 games for the Portuguese powerhouses across all competitions, scoring 34 goals and dishing out four assists.

To see Nunez play, though, Liverpool may have to wait a little longer.

After taking part in initial training on Monday, the club’s medical staff pulled the 22-year-old out of further sessions.

There are suggestions that he could be suffering from some painful blisters on his foot.

It remains to be seen if Nunez will feature in the match on Tuesday as he was seen stretching on the sidelines later with a physiotherapist.
