APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu’s choice of running mate, according to controversial Islamic cleric Ahmed Gumi, has nothing to do with religion.
Recall that numerous stakeholders have expressed their displeasure with Tinubu’s choice of Kashim Shettima, a fellow Muslim, as his running mate for the 2023 presidential elections, in the media space.
Since the announcement on Sunday, many party members have continued to resign their membership.
Some party members, however, have argued that there is nothing wrong with the decision, emphasising that having a Muslim vice presidential candidate is the only way the party can win in 2023.
Gumi similarly claimed that the Muslim-Muslim ticket was just a tactic to win the election during an exclusive interview with Daily Post on Tuesday.
He believes that electorates, particularly those who are dissatisfied, have the right to vote for their preferred candidate.
He said, “It has nothing to do with religion. It’s pure vote getting stretagy and nothing more. It now depends on the voter to choose from a wide range of choices”.
