A former governor of Osun State and Minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola and Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo did not attend the mega gubernatorial rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that at least ten APC governors, Senate President, Ahmed Lawan and other party chieftains attended the mega rally held on Tuesday.
Yemi Osinbajo, the Vice-President of Nigeria was unavoidably absent at the rally despite being listed as one of guest speakers to address the people at the rally.
Recall that the Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola is still at loggerhead with the Governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola who is seeking a second term in office.
Speaking on the development, Sola Fasure who is the media aide to Rauf Aregbesola, said his boss was not invited for the event.
He added that the minister was attended an official event in Lagos on Tuesday.
Some sources who spoke to WITHIN NIGERIA said it is possible that Osinbajo’s defeat in the primary might have created a wedge between him and some of the party’s leaders.
Some of the Governors in attendance include: Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi, Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna, Abdulrahaman Abudulrasak of Kwara, Hope Uzodinma of Imo, Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, and Prof. Babagana Zulum of Borno State.
Also in attendance were; a former APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole; the 2023 APC presidential flagbearer, Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima.
