Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the house of representatives, has started a leadership course at the Harvard Business School’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
On Tuesday, while the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) protested across the country in support of university lecturers who have been on strike for more than five months, Gbajabiamila uploaded photos of himself in class to Twitter.
“Back to class. In a leadership course @havard @Kennedy_school. Forget the number of grey hairs, one is never too old to learn,” Gbajabiamila said.
WITHIN NIGERIA reports that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) embarked on strike February 14, among their demands are improved investment in education, implementation of the 2009 FG agreement, better welfare for lecturers, and refusal to use IPPIS among others.
Idris Wase, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, is anticipated to preside over House sessions in Gbajabiamila’s absence.
