Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has added former South Africa striker, Benni McCarthy, to his coaching staff.
The Athletic reports McCarthy will be a first-team coach at Old Trafford from this season.
The 44-year-old was named the 2020–21 Premier Soccer League Coach of the Year in May 2021.
During his time with FC Porto, he netted two memorable goals against United in 2004 in a UEFA Champions League game.
The goals helped Jose Mourinho’s Porto eliminate the Red Devils, and McCarthy remains the only South African to lift the European Cup.
At Carrington, McCarthy, an established striker during his playing days, is expected to work with United’s attacking players.
