Two people have been abducted by some yet-to-be identified armed men in Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
It was learnt that the victims were abducted along the Nnobi—Nnewi Road and taken to Alor where they were thrown from the bridge over the Obiaja River.
This was also corroborated by a video from the scene currently trending on social media, showing one of the abductees lamenting and narrating his experience, while being interviewed by some men of the Tiger Squad Local Vigilante, Alor.
One of the victims, who identified himself as Benjamin Okafor, said he was driving to his hometown, Amichi, in Nnewi South Local Government Area, with one other person, before they were abducted about 9:00 p.m.
He said the abductors, after driving halfway into the about 20 feet high bridge, threw them down from the bridge and he landed on a concrete base.
However, the second victim did not survive the fall as his lifeless body was found in the drainage system, covered by flood and some huge pebbles.
The surviving victim also sustained various degrees of injuries all over his body.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident and revealed that the victim had been rescued, and the body of the deceased deposited in a mortuary.
He said, “The man was rescued and he is currently receiving treatment in the hospital. He was later identified and reunited with the family members. Meanwhile, the second victim has been taken to the morgue and investigation has since commenced.”
