Despite interest from other clubs, Belgian Pro League team KRC Genk wants to keep their forward Cyriel Dessers.
Since moving from Eredivisie club ADO Den Haag to the Luminus Arena in 2019, Dessers has had trouble making an impression.
The 27-year-old flourished during a loan spell at Sparta Rotterdam last season and emerged the top scorer in the UEFA Europa Conference League with 10 goals from 12 outings.
Due to the injury of his international teammate, Paul Onuachu, he has been given another opportunity at Genk this season, which he has seized with both hands.
In the Smurfs’ first two games of the season, Dessers has tallied three goals and one assist.
Danish Superliga club, FC Copenhagen and Serie A new boys, Cremonese are reportedly interested in the Nigerian international.
Dessers has also expressed his desire to try something new after meeting with Copenhagen officials in Denmark last week.
Reports have now emerged that Genk is not willing to sell the player following his impressive start to the campaign.
Dessers has a contract with Genk until 2024.
