Hot water kills 5-month-old baby in Niger

A five-month-old baby, Abdulaziz Ibrahim, was killed by hot water at Angwan Gwari Kwamba in Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State

The incident which happened around 7am on Sunday threw residents of the area into mourning.

Speaking with Daily Trust, the mother of the baby, Amina Ibrahim, said that he died from burns sustained from the hot water he splashed on himself.

She said, “He mistakenly clutched a hot water container in a bid to support himself to get up when the water kept by a neighbour splashed on him. He was rushed to the hospital where he died.”

The neighbour, who kept the hot water, Asabe Joy, said she had gone to urinate when she heard people shouting.

The police in the area, however, said the incident was not reported to them.
