Kalidou Koulibaly, a recent addition to Chelsea, has revealed how former Chelsea captain John Terry hung up on him when he called the Chelsea legend to ask about the No. 26 jersey.
The Senegalese was later given the No. 26 jersey by Terry, according to reports, and was tasked with winning championships with the West London club.
However, prior to that, the Africa Cup of Nations champion claimed the English legend had hung up the phone because he mistook the call for a joke from a different person impersonating Koulibaly.
Terry used the No.26 throughout his 19-year career at Stamford Bridge, captaining the Blues to Premier League titles, five FA Cups, and a Champions League triumph.
The shirt has not been used by any Chelsea player since 2017 when Terry left the club, but Koulibaly opted for it, having worn the same in Napoli.
The Senegal International said he got Terry’s contact from another club legend Franco Zola “and I called him – but at the beginning, he did not believe that it was me! He thought that it was a joke!”
“So he put down the phone at first and called the team manager to ask if it was really me,” the highly rated defender told Chelsea media.
