Midfielder Christian Eriksen has been declared as a ‘very good’ player by former Manchester United captain, Roy Keane.
But Keane added that despite being a good player, his abilities won’t fix the club’s problems in midfield.
Recall that Eriksen who became a member of the club on a free transfer this summer, made his Man United debut in Sunday’s Premier League 2-1 defeat to Brighton.
The Denmark international signed a three-year contract at Old Trafford.
But Keane believes the Denmark international won’t get Man United back to challenging for major trophies.
Asked about Man United’s move for Eriksen, Keane told Sky Sports: “Look, I think he is a really good player.
“In the bigger picture, will he get Manchester United back competing for league titles? The answer is no.
“My biggest worry for players like Eriksen, the big problem for United over the last few years is that when they are out of possession, especially against the better teams, they are not great at getting back.
“That is not one of his strengths. He’s a really talented player, a very good player obviously, but I’m not convinced he’s the answer.”
